Chelsea Lang's Alla Prima Bootcamp

Create Pro-Level Oil Paintings That Feel Expressive & Alive

You’ve taken workshops. You understand drawing and value. But your paintings still feel tight, overworked, or lifeless.

I’ll show you how to fix that—and what it actually takes to paint with confidence, control, and a painterly style that still feels like you.

Limited spots. This is a high-touch mentorship, not a casual workshop.

The shift inside the Bootcamp

From guessing… to knowing exactly what to do next.

1. Diagnose Obstacles

Most painters at your level aren’t lacking skill—they’re lacking clarity.

Your paintings fall apart because you can’t see:

  • where things are going wrong

  • or why they’re happening

2. Fix With Targeted exercises

Inside the Bootcamp, you get:

  • A clear framework for diagnosing exactly where your paintings fall short

  • and the specific exercises that correct it.

3. Paint With Confidence

So instead of guessing…

You know:

  • what to do next

  • what actually matters

  • and when to stop

That’s what allows your work to feel alive, intentional, and cohesive.

Designed for committed oil painters

If you’re a disciplined, lifelong learner who’s invested years into oil painting—and you still feel your art looks tight, muddy, or overworked—this is built for you.

This isn’t a casual “weekend workshop.” It’s a focused mentorship for serious oil painters who are ready for pro-level, painterly work.

This is you if

This is you if:

  • You already paint in oils and take your work seriously.

  • You’ve invested in workshops or training before.

  • You want pro-level mastery without going back to art school

  • You love painting people or animals and can get a likeness—but the more you try to refine, the less your painting looks "alive."

  • You want your work to feel cohesive, expressive, and intentional.

This is not for you if

This is not for you if:

  • You haven't invested in any classes or workshops before.

  • You’re new to oil painting.

  • You're not an oil painter.

  • You don't paint regularly.

  • You aren't actually stuck or needing help, but just want a fun experience to keep busy.

If you’re committed to mastery and willing to work methodically, you’ll feel right at home.

The call (very important)

If you’re interested, the next step is to apply for a call.

On the call, we’ll:

  • Look at your work together.
  • Identify exactly what’s breaking down.
  • Walk you through how the program works.
  • Decide if it’s the right fit for your goals and season of life.

No pressure. No hard sell. If it’s not a fit, I’ll tell you directly—and you’ll still leave with more clarity about your next steps as a painter.

Apply for a Call

Tell me a bit about your painting experience and your goals. If it looks like a good fit, we’ll schedule a time to talk.

Prefer not to fill out forms? You can also email me a few recent paintings and a short note about what you’re working toward.

On our call, we’ll look at your paintings the way we look at work inside the program—calmly, clearly, and with an eye toward what’s truly possible for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re thoughtful and cautious about where you invest your time at this stage of life, that’s a good thing. Here are a few answers that may help.

I’m in my 60s/70s/80s. Is it too late for this level of growth?

Not at all. Many of the painters I work with are retired professionals who finally have the time and focus to pursue mastery. The Bootcamp is built for thoughtful, experienced adults who value structure and depth—not speed. If you bring consistency and curiosity, age is an asset, not an obstacle.

Do I need to paint like you—or like Sargent—to succeed here?

No. We’ll absolutely study painters you're inspired by, but the goal isn’t to turn you into a copy. The framework helps you make clear, confident decisions about value, color, and edges so your work looks intentional and alive— in your own voice .

What if I’m nervous about being “good enough” for the Bootcamp?

That’s exactly what the call is for. We’ll look at your work together and I’ll give you an honest assessment. If you’re not ready yet, I’ll tell you—and I’ll point you toward what to focus on next so you don’t waste time feeling stuck.
